About Helen Leighton | Floral Designer Albany | Riverdale Farm

A life lived seasonally…

Meet Helen Leighton
Author, Gardener, Floral Designer, Homemaker & Photographer

I’ve always believed that beauty is something we notice—not something we buy.

For years, my days were spent at Riverdale Farm with Jim growing, gathering, designing. There were flowers on the bench, bees in the garden, guests at the table. The seasons shaped everything. From the colours in a bouquet to the pace of the day.

Now, that chapter is coming to a close…

EXPLORE THE GARDEN

AS FEATURED IN

We’re moving on from Riverdale Farm and are beginning a new season—renovating a heritage home above Princess Royal Harbour and planting the first seeds of a new garden.

The space is still taking shape. The garden is just beginning.
But the heart of the work remains.

This is a continuation of what began at Riverdale:
Not just flowers, but a way of seeing. Not just gardening, but tending to a life.

WHAT I DO

These days, I write, grow, gather, and photograph.

I share ideas for seasonal living through books, workshops, and small-batch creations.

I may open the gate for a garden gathering.

Sometimes I sit with someone and help them find their own rhythm.

My work is about beauty, but not the polished kind.

The kind that grows slowly. That wilts, blooms again, and smells like the wind after rain.

WHAT DO I BELIEVE?

A bouquet is a story The best gardens are made with what you have Seasons are teachers
Nostalgia is sacred Less is usually enough

And most things are better after a walk through the garden…
